The Summa Moda fashion show was a parade of Nizhny Novgorod designer brands held on 10 September 2026 on the wall-walk of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. It became the central event of the opening of the first festival of museum communications, Mediamuseum.[1]

The venue and the idea

An improvised catwalk was set up on the wall-walk between the Dmitrievskaya and Powder towers.[2] The show's name refers to the notion of the highest point of fashion; the concept brought together the city's cultural traditions, practices and visual codes, embodied in clothing and accessories.[2] The idea drew on the aesthetics of the Renaissance: clothing was treated as a work of art, with craftsmanship and individuality as the highest values.[3]

The minister on the catwalk

The opening outfit was presented by the regional minister of culture Natalya Sukhanova, appearing as a model for the first time.[4] She walked about a hundred metres along the brickwork of the wall in stiletto heels, having taken part in rehearsals and fittings beforehand.[1] In her words the experience proved emotionally and physically demanding and gave her a new appreciation of the work of professional models; she said she took to the catwalk to support the region's creative industries, the museum and the team behind the show.[5]

The Mediamuseum festival

Mediamuseum is the first professional event in Russia devoted to museum communications; in 2026 it was held in Nizhny Novgorod from 8 to 12 September with support from the Russian Ministry of Culture and the government of Nizhny Novgorod Region, with the ROSIZO centre as operator.[2] The programme included more than sixty events: lectures, discussions, exhibitions and film screenings bringing together specialists in museum work, the media and the creative industries.[1] The general director of the Nizhny Novgorod museum reserve Yury Filippov noted that museum spaces are almost universal for events of different kinds, and that occasions like this help bring a new audience into the museum.[2]
