Smirnov Sergei Petrovich (born 27 July 1937) — Director for Science at the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "GosNII Kristall" since 1977. Doctor of Chemical Sciences, professor. Honored Inventor of the RSFSR.

Kazan Chemical-Technological Institute named after S. M. Kirov (1959), specialty — "chemistry and technology of organic nitrogen compounds."

1959-1963 — senior engineer, junior research fellow at KKhTI (Kazan Chemical-Technological Institute); 1964-1970 — head of a group, then of a sector, at GosNII "Kristall"; 1970-1977 — head of department at GosNII "Kristall".

Author of more than 200 published scientific papers, 213 inventions and patents. A number of his works are devoted to one of the most important tasks — forecasting emergency situations at chemical plants and in transport.
