It was formed through a merger with the former School No. 35; after the merger, it moved into a new building as part of the "City of Sciences" complex.[2] The school's official website is fizmatschool2.ru.[3]

History and the Merger with School No. 35

At some point, School No. 2 merged with School No. 35 in Dzerzhinsk and moved into the new building of the "City of Sciences" complex. Along with the building, the museum of folk life moved there as well; its core consists of exhibits from School No. 35.[2] At the time the information about the school was published, it had 879 students and 83 staff members, and the institution's annual budget was about 46.5 million rubles. The school's principal is Elena Eduardovna Lushina.[1]

Museum of Folk Life

The school has a museum of folk life, headed by art teacher Nadezhda Nikolaevna Okhapkina. In the new building, the museum was given a spacious room with special shelving units with glass doors.[2]

The collection covers items of merchant and peasant life of the 19th century — not only of Nizhny Novgorod origin, but also from other regions of the Russian Empire. Among the exhibits are Kuznetsov porcelain pieces (a salt cellar called "Boy in a Hat," a pitcher, a soup tureen), tin boxes from the confectionery trading house of Ivan and Anastasia Kochetov of Nizhny Novgorod, and antique tableware (tea caddies, soup tureens, paskha molds, aspic molds). There is a section devoted to the Old Believers: clothing, wooden spoons, and lestovkas — leather prayer ropes used for continuous prayer. The museum also holds examples of linen clothing with embroidery and lace, an antique chest of drawers with a round mirror in a wooden frame, and a photo album with portraits of a family from the former Chernorechye.[2]

The museum is visited by the school's students and teachers, as well as by guests from other schools, students' parents, deputies, journalists, museum workers, and art historians.[2]

Infrastructure and Accessibility

The school building is equipped with an elevator, a ramp, a restroom for people with disabilities, and an accessible entrance for wheelchairs.[3] It is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.[3] The institution's user rating on a review aggregator is 4.6 out of 5; reviews note a high standard of instruction in mathematics, chemistry, and English, as well as strict discipline.[1]
