Savva Osipov (born 2004, Nizhny Novgorod) is an inventor, co-founder of the company Cubios, and the author of the idea for the WOWCube game console: he came up with it in late 2016, when he was twelve[1]. He holds two patents on elements of this device[2][3]. He is the son of Ilya Osipov and Anna Prasikova, and the great-grandson of the Gorky metallurgist Anatoly Andreyevich Osipov. He studies computer science at a university in Belgrade[4].

The Idea of the Cube

In late 2016, twelve-year-old Savva proposed to his father — the professional inventor Ilya Osipov — making a device like a Rubik's Cube, but with screens on every face, so that game characters could run from screen to screen as if across a single field[1].

After three months of work on the idea, the first patent for the system was obtained, and on April 11, 2017, the company Cubios, Inc. was registered. The name WOWCube became attached to the device in May 2018 at the Maker Faire exhibition[1].

At the company, his role is described in three words: inventor, co-founder, tester[5]. He appears at events as a speaker and brand representative[4].

Patents

Both patents are registered to the company Cubios, and in both of them Savva Osipov is named among the inventors.

  • USD962348S1, "Electronic display device" — a design patent for an electronic display device. The application was filed on December 14, 2020, and the patent was issued on August 30, 2022; the inventors named are Savva Osipov, Semyon Orlov, Ilya Osipov, Valentin Zubkov, and Maxim Filin[2].
  • US20240419317A1, "Graphic user interface using kinematic inputs on transformable display device" — an application for a method of controlling an interface through rotations of the device itself: images are divided into subsets, and rules for their interaction and game modes on a transformable screen are defined. Priority date is December 31, 2020; the application was filed on January 3, 2022, and published on December 19, 2024; the inventors are Ilya Osipov, Savva Osipov, and Maxim Filin[3].

Education and languages

Born in Nizhny Novgorod, he moved with his family to the United States at the age of nine. He speaks Russian, English, and Serbian[4].

He is currently a university student in Belgrade, majoring in computer science[4].
