Pugin Nikolai Andreyevich (born 30 June 1940) — president of the open joint-stock company "GAZ", full member of the Russian Engineering Academy and of the International Engineering Academy. Laureate of the USSR State Prize in Science and Technology, and of the Nizhny Novgorod city prize. Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region for two terms.

Author of numerous publications in the periodical press. Winner of the "Best Manager of Russia" competition held by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Under his leadership, GAZ OJSC has, since 1994, carried out reforms aimed at adopting market mechanisms and expanding cooperation with leading world firms. In record-short time, production was mastered of a family of fundamentally new vehicles — the "GAZelle", "Sobol", "Sobol-Barguzin" and "Sadko". The modernized "Volga GAZ-3110" passenger car was put into production, and production began of the new-generation "Volga GAZ-3111". Production was organized of modern, competitive "GAZ-560" diesel engines under license from the Austrian firm STEYR.

Full member of the Russian and International Engineering Academies and of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, president of the Russian Automobile Federation, chairman of the board of directors of "Avtoselkhozmash-Holding" JSC. Chairman of the supervisory board of Avtobank. Member of the National Banking Council under the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. On his initiative and with his financial support, the Church of St. Tatiana and an Orthodox cultural and educational center were built. Laureate of the USSR State Prize in Science and Technology. Laureate of the Peter the Great National Prize. Awarded the "Best Manager of Russia" diploma.

Awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the "Badge of Honour", the "For Merit to the Fatherland" order 2nd and 3rd classes, and the medals "For Labour Distinction" and "For Valiant Labour".

The title "Honorary Citizen of the City of Nizhny Novgorod" was conferred by decree of the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod No. 38 dated 23 June 1999.
