V o s k r e s e n s k a y a Secondary School

Voskresenskaya Secondary School — a secondary general-education school (SOSh), the only one in the district center and the largest school in the district. A municipal state-funded educational institution. In 2011 the school marked its 155th anniversary. Following the results of the "Looking for the Oldest School" campaign of 2005, held by the Department of Education and Science of Nizhegorodskaya Oblast, the school was ranked among the ten oldest schools.

Introduction

The first mention of the school dates to 1856. The holdings of the Voskresensky Local History Museum include the essay "The Estate" by local historian N.V. Plekhanov, which states that a rural училище (elementary school) opened in Voskresenskoye in 1856 with funds from Anna Nemchinova. Starting in 1859, the school was housed in a succession of places: in the People's House, in the house of a timber merchant, in the house of patron Levashov, in the house of timber merchant Belyaev, and in what is now the local history museum... The school's present building was put into operation in 1969, with an annex added in 1975.

The school occupies 2 buildings. There are 44 classrooms (including subject classrooms and laboratories). It has a museum.

Alexei Vladimirovich Makhotin — school principal. About 100 people make up the management and teaching staff.

The school operates in one shift on a six-day working-week schedule, given the necessary material and technical conditions for it. The length of an academic period is 45 minutes, and for first-grade students — 35 minutes during the first quarter.
