«PPK Sodruzhestvo» (JSC «PPK «Sodruzhestvo») is a suburban passenger company operating rail services within the Volga Federal District. It is part of the holding structure of JSC Russian Railways.[2] It is connected to Nizhny Novgorod through routes departing from Moscow Railway Station and through the affiliated Volgo-Vyatskaya PPK.[1]

Operations

The company serves as the carrier on suburban routes, including the interregional route Nizhny Novgorod (Moscow Railway Station) — Kazan-Pass. Suburban rail service between Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod was reinstated after a hiatus of many years: initially one pair of electric trains ran per day, later increasing to two pairs daily.[3] Electric train No. 7001/7002/7004/7006 runs daily, departing at 05:10 and arriving in Kazan at 11:05; the route includes 12 stops — Arzamas-2, Perevozskaya, Sergach, Pilna, Knyazhikha, Shumerlya, Vurnary, Kanash, Sviyazhsk, Zeleny Dol. From 1 March 2023, PPK Sodruzhestvo, jointly with Volgo-Vyatskaya PPK, introduced reserved-seat ticketing on the Kazan — Nizhny Novgorod route: tickets became available at suburban ticket offices 45 days before departure and via the «RZhD Passazhiram» mobile app 10 days before departure; on the section served by PPK Sodruzhestvo, named-ticket offices are open at the stations Kazan-1, Zeleny Dol, Sviyazhsk, Kanash, and Vurnary, while at the stations Perevozskaya, Knyazhikha, and Shumerlya, which are not equipped with ticket offices, boarding remains possible with the purchase of an open (non-reserved) ticket directly on the train.[3][1]

Staff Training

In September 2019, the Volgo-Vyatka Centre for Vocational Training organized a «I Am a Mentor» workshop for the company's ticket cashiers. The session was aimed at employees engaged in the practical training of new staff. Participants studied the history and current mentoring practices within the Russian Railways holding, adult learning methodologies, approaches to motivating trainees, and the development of an in-house mentoring system. Each participant received handout materials and a certificate upon completion of the training. PPK Sodruzhestvo also operates services between Kazan and Yoshkar-Ola: from 3 March 2023, due to strong demand for the route, Gorky Railway, together with the government of the Republic of Mari El, converted these trains from a seasonal schedule (April–October) to year-round operation; services run three times a week.[3][2]
