Nikolai Vasilyevich Obolensky (born February 15, 1938) is a professor at the State Agricultural Academy since 2000. Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor. Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation.

1961–1999 – the plant named after V. I. Ulyanov (later – CJSC "Concern "Termal"), worked in positions starting from senior design engineer, successively passing through all levels up to general designer of the joint-stock company.
Main facts of activity
Heading the special design and technology bureau of CJSC "Concern "Termal", whose main task was to provide the country's national economy with highly efficient electrothermal equipment (ETO) meeting the current and future requirements of shipbuilding and vessel construction, suitable for equipping agricultural and other enterprises. On the basis of theoretical and experimental research, a scientific and technical foundation was developed for creating highly efficient ETO meeting advanced technical, economic, ergonomic and environmental requirements. The main result of the research – mathematical reliability criteria and a model of non-stationary heat conductivity in electric heaters (EN) were developed for the first time, along with methods and ways of improving ETO efficiency, the practical application of which brought about scientific and technical progress in marine electrothermy and agricultural and food production.
Under his leadership, and personally by him, design and technology developments were carried out and implemented, including fundamentally new technical solutions protected by 24 author's certificates and patents, marked with diplomas and a certificate of merit from the Scientific and Technical Society of the Shipbuilding Industry named after Academician A. N. Krylov (1970, 1972, 1975, 1977); silver (1988) and gold (1989) medals of the USSR Exhibition of Economic Achievements (VDNKh), a prize from the State Committee for Defense Industry of the Russian Federation (1995) for the development and implementation of import-substituting products as part of solving conversion problems. The results of his scientific and practical work have been published in more than 150 papers.

Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences (RAETS); full member (academician) of the International Academy of Authors of Scientific Discoveries and Inventions (IAASDI); in 1994 he was awarded the academic title "Doctor of Electrical Engineering".
