Newsroom24 ("Nyusrum24") is a news agency that grew from a Nizhny Novgorod city feed into a network of regional news outlets. It was registered as Mass Media on July 22, 2011; the editor-in-chief is Emiliya Tkachenko, and the founder is Nyusrum LLC[1]. Between 2019 and 2021, one of its co-founders was Aleksandr Pichugin (listed in the foreign agents registry)[2].
Publication details
Mass media registration certificate No. FS 77-45920 was issued by Roskomnadzor on July 22, 2011. The editorial office operates at 59 Piskunova Street — in the same building as Otkryty Nizhny[1].
The publication carries an 18+ age rating; materials marked "Advertising" and content in the "Company News" section are paid for by advertisers, which the editorial office discloses in its publication details[1].
From city to regional network
Having started as a Nizhny Novgorod agency, by the mid-2020s Newsroom24 had grown into a network of regional feeds: on the homepage, readers select a city, and alongside Nizhny Novgorod news they find coverage from Smolensk, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vologda, and Murmansk[3].
On a single day in September 2026, the front page carried news side by side: an environmental awareness month in Smolensk, a drop in new housing construction in the Urals, a space week in Moscow, a court case in St. Petersburg's Pushkinsky District, an extension of the roach-fishing ban in Nizhny Novgorod Region, and the completion of the flax-pulling season in the Vologda area[3]. The Nizhny Novgorod feed remained the primary one throughout.
Such a trajectory is rare in Nizhny Novgorod journalism: city outlets typically either remain city outlets or join someone else's network as a local branch. Newsroom24 built a network around itself while keeping both its Nizhny Novgorod feed and its Nizhny Novgorod editorial team.
Sections and coverage
The agency's section structure is detailed: feed, society, politics, "opinion feed," housing and utilities, road accidents, technology, incidents, economy, transport, sports, real estate, culture, health, and a "In Depth" section for longer pieces[1].
The agenda covers both city and regional topics: the aftermath of the April 2026 drone attack, the destruction of undocumented food products at the airport, appointments at regional Mass Media outlets, and reports on the Probuzhdeniye[1][4] award.
A distinctive feature is the "opinion feed": columns and commentary are placed in a separate section and kept apart from the news. This separation is rare for city news agencies, where bylined pieces are more commonly interspersed with event reports[1].
Standing among Nizhny Novgorod publications
According to the Nizhny Novgorod media ranking for August 2026, Newsroom24 holds third place: the agency covered 46 percent of significant city topics, was first to publish in 63 cases, and produced 104 items on tracked stories.
Only two state agencies rank above it in the same assessment — Vremya N and NIA Nizhny Novgorod; among private publications, Newsroom24 is first.
