Zhukova Nadezhda Nikolayevna — a Nizhny Novgorod educator, principal of School No. 118 with advanced study of selected subjects in the Moskovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, and Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation.[1] She has led the school since 2009 — from the very moment it opened.[2][3]

Career path

Zhukova graduated from the mathematics faculty of the Gorky State Pedagogical Institute named after Gorky — now Minin University — in 1981.

She described the beginning of her career as follows: she joined as a mathematics teacher at the very school she had herself attended, after a few years headed the mathematics teachers' methodological association, a couple of years later became deputy principal, and then moved on as principal to one of the oldest schools in Moskovsky District.[2] That school was School No. 66 on Chaadayev Street, built in 1935 in four months by workers of Aviation Plant No. 21, future pupils, and their parents; Zhukova led it from 1992.[4] Before that she had worked at School No. 178 — first as a mathematics teacher, then as deputy principal for academic and methodological affairs.

In 2000 she was awarded the title "Honorary Worker of General Education of the Russian Federation"; for her work she has repeatedly been recognized with commendations and diplomas from the Ministry of Education of Nizhny Novgorod Region, the city education department, and the Regional Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region.

School No. 118

Since June 2009 Zhukova has headed School No. 118 on Narodnaya Street — the institution opened on 1 September of that year.[2][3] The school offers advanced study of history, mathematics, and Russian.[3]

The school's teaching staff includes two Honored Teachers of Russia, three honorary workers of education, and three laureates of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor's Prize.[3]
