NN-Mama (nnmama.ru; on the site itself the name was written "НН-МАМА," and in recent years "ННМама") was a Nizhny Novgorod website for parents that operated from 2006 to 2025. It combined a directory of children's institutions in the city and region, articles on pregnancy, health, and child-rearing, a listing of children's events, city news, and a forum that by the end of the 2010s had become one of the busiest parenting forums in Nizhny Novgorod[1][2][8]. In 2009 the site was named the best internet project among Nizhny Novgorod media outlets supporting family values[3]. Updates stopped in early 2022, the site disappeared from the web in 2025, the domain registration expired in January 2026, and by the end of summer the address had been taken over by an online casino site[5][6][7].

The Site

The site opened in 2006 as a "website for Nizhny Novgorod parents." By February it already had sections on pregnancy, breastfeeding, children's health and psychology, children's creativity and educational games, as well as a directory of maternity hospitals, kindergartens, private kindergartens, and children's centers with parent reviews, and a listing of children's events. On the forum, a breastfeeding consultant, a psychologist, and a teacher answered questions, and the site's first contest, announced together with the Nizhny Novgorod Puppet Theater, gave away a family invitation to a performance among the most active forum participants[1].

By 2013, according to the project's own description, the portal was in its seventh year of operation, run by a team of "ordinary but very loving moms." Its audience exceeded 300,000 visitors and 2.5 million page views per month, more than 13,000 people visited the site daily, and in the "Home and Family" category of the LiveInternet rating the site held first place[2]. The project's director was Vitaly Slyusarenko, the editor was Darya Spirina, and advertising and partnerships were handled by Nadezhda Makhnyova[2][4].

By the mid-2010s, the site described itself as the largest directory of organizations for children and parents in Nizhny Novgorod: antenatal clinics and maternity hospitals, polyclinics and clinics, kindergartens and early-development centers, sports clubs, hobby groups, camps, family cafés and entertainers, with separate pages for the towns and districts of the Region — from Arzamas to Shakhunya. Alongside these were city news, an events calendar filterable by age, format, and date, the "NN-MAMA" club with its own schedule of meetups, and a group buying section called "Buyers' Union," where parents pooled their money to order children's clothing, toys, and household goods[5][8][9].

The forum

The forum, built on the phpBB engine, had been part of the site since its first months of operation[1]. By December 2019 it had accumulated 1,347,775 posts in 16,139 topics, with 20,731 registered members, and the record for simultaneous presence — 1,327 visitors — was set on November 21, 2019. Sections were divided by the children's age, from pregnancy to teenagers, with separate sections for hobby groups and sports clubs, help for children and adults, and site contests and promotions. At the end of 2019, the administration was moving the forum to a login shared with the main site[8].

Recognition

From February to April 2009, the Union of Women of Russia, together with the journalism department of Lobachevsky University, conducted a monitoring of Nizhny Novgorod media promoting family values, reviewing more than thirty TV channels, radio stations, newspapers, and online publications. In the "Television" category, the winner was Aleksandr Matveyev, host of the program "Family Soup" (NNTV); in the "Print Media" category, Lyudmila Stanovova, a journalist at Nizhegorodskaya Pravda; in the "Radio" category, Polina Stupina, chief editor of Radio Obraz. In the new "Best Internet Project" category, which considered the ten most visited internet projects in Nizhny Novgorod, the winner was the NN-MAMA site: the jury noted that the portal is read by young families and by those who have yet to start one, and that the site supports family values[3].

Closure

By 2024 the site had stopped being updated: from March 2024 to January 2025 its main page did not change, and the most recent items on it remained a news story from December 30, 2021, and an article from February 9, 2022, about children's immunity[5][10].

During 2025, the site disappeared from the internet. On January 18, 2026, the address nnmama.ru opened a page from the registrar RU-CENTER with the message "The registration period of the domain nnmama.ru has expired"[6]. The domain was later bought up: by August 31, 2026, it was running an online casino site called "Lev" (Lion), and as of autumn 2026 the address leads to the same place[7]. Copies of the site from 2006–2025 have been preserved in the web archive.
