Lidiya Pavlovna Izhnina (born August 26, 1954) — head of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics at Lobachevsky University. Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor.

From 1989 to 1992 – the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Moscow Law Academy; from June 1992 to January 1995 – Lobachevsky University, founder and associate professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics; since 1995 – head of the department.
Main research directions
Protection of citizens' rights and legitimate interests in criminal proceedings, the theory of evidence. She is developing a research area on the work of defense attorneys in protecting citizens' rights and legitimate interests in criminal justice.
Key facts of her career
She has twice completed internships in Germany — at Humboldt University (Berlin) and the Max Planck Institute (Freiburg) — as well as in Israel (Jerusalem) and the United States (Washington and Cleveland). Author of more than 80 published scholarly works. Seven candidate dissertations have been defended under the scholarly supervision of L. P. Izhnina. Academic secretary of the specialized council for the defense of doctoral dissertations at Lobachevsky University. Member of the "Open World" Alumni Association (USA) and member of the "Shalom" Alumni Association (Israel). For five years she was a member of the Human Rights Commission under the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region. She has received 2 letters of commendation from the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region (2001, 2006). Since November 2007 – one of the coordinators of the professional development program for law enforcement officers of Nizhny Novgorod Region – FORCONDHO-VOLGA of the European Commission of the European Union. Member of the editorial board of the journal "Vestnik of Lobachevsky University", Law series.
