The «Lastochka» ("Swallow") was an experimental second-generation seagoing hydrofoil designed by the Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoil Ships named after R. E. Alexeyev and built at the More shipyard in Feodosia in 1986. It did not enter series production. [1] [2]

Experimental vessel

The second half of the 1980s was a time of searching for the hydrofoil fleet: the Kolkhida (ship))», the «Tsiklon», and the «Lastochka» were all in development at once — vessels of different sizes and purposes, each with its own set of design solutions. The «Lastochka» remained experimental: it never reached series production, and soon afterward the economic conditions that had sustained the hydrofoil fleet changed as well. [1] The single hull that was built (hull number 701) was registered first at Gorky, then at Nizhny Novgorod. No later than August 1992 the vessel left for Hungary, where it was renamed Quicksilver and registered at the port of Budapest; it is not currently in operation. [2]
