Igor Vasilyevich Molev (born 27 February 1940) is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, and head of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures at Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Education
Gorky Civil Engineering Institute named after V.P. Chkalov, 1964. Worked at construction sites in the city on the erection of residential buildings as foreman, site superintendent, and senior site superintendent. Several dozen residential buildings were built with his direct participation.
Field of scientific interests
Structural design developments, experimental research and implementation of steel domes, lightweight metal structures for single-story industrial buildings of complete-set supply with a bracing framework and transverse stiffening diaphragms; assessment of design quality using an energy criterion and etalonometry; assessment of the durability of reinforced concrete structures operating in aggressive environments, taking into account corrosion wear of the reinforcement. In implementing the results of scientific work on improving dome coverings, a series of round buildings of universal purpose and complete-set supply was developed (he led the author's team). More than five thousand buildings of various spans, from 18 m to 36 m, were built across Russia. He holds 4 inventions. Author of 165 publications, of which 130 are scientific and 35 are educational and methodological in nature, including 3 textbooks. Under I.V. Molev's scientific supervision, 4 candidate dissertations have been defended. Member of the Academic Council of NNGASU, member of the Scientific and Methodological Council of NNGASU, chairman of the dissertation council. Honored Builder of the Russian Federation.
