"Liga Geroev" (Heroes League) is a Russian organization of federal scale that specializes in staging social and sporting events. It operates through the website heroleague.ru and draws participants from different regions of the country, and it also has experience launching projects abroad.[1]
Activities
The organization holds running and sporting events in various formats — in-person races and online runs in which participants can run at a convenient time and in any location. Its partners include the Russian Ministry of Sport; together with the ministry it holds the online run "Let's Run Together" ("Bezhim vmeste").[2] Events under the organization's brand include the Gagarin Run, dedicated to the first human spaceflight, and the "Road of Life" run, timed to the anniversary of the breaking of the siege of Leningrad.[2]
The events span many cities across Russia. To provide technical support for the project, a ticketing system was built on 1C Bitrix, capable of handling peak loads during seasonal sales and supporting a variety of sales and cross-sales scenarios.[1] Alongside the main website, a corporate portal operates that automates the company's internal processes.[1]
International expansion
On the basis of the IT infrastructure that was developed, franchise projects were launched outside Russia: MÜBARIZLƏR in Azerbaijan and Hero League in Germany.[1]
Nizhny Novgorod context
On the platform worldrun.online, which aggregates online runs, Heroes League events are available to participants from Nizhny Novgorod Region. In particular, the online run "Let's Run to a Dream" ("Bezhim k mechte") was linked to the Gorodets Psychoneurological Boarding Facility: the funds raised during the run were meant to help the facility's residents take part in the Nizhny Novgorod Marathon.[2]
The Nizhny Novgorod Marathon (Marathon 52) is the largest autumn road race in the Volga Region and is organized by the Heroes League; the race is held with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod Region government, and the course runs through the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, the Oka and Volga embankments, and Rozhdestvenskaya Street — the start and finish are at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.[3]
The sixth annual marathon start is scheduled for October 3–4, 2026; in previous years the race was held in September, but the date was moved.[3]
