Education

Moscow Power Engineering Institute, specialty "radio-electronic devices," 1965. His candidate's dissertation, "Radiation-hardened timing devices based on semiconductor trigger devices with capacitive storage elements," was defended in 1988 at VNIIEF, under the supervision of Candidate of Technical Sciences E.K. Yesipov. His doctoral dissertation, "Synthesis of microelectronic automation control subsystems resistant to pulsed ionizing radiation," was defended in 1995 at the N.L. Dukhov All-Russian Research Institute of Automatics.

Main areas of scientific work

Research into circuit-level and system-level design methods for microelectronic devices used in digital control and monitoring systems, including low-power voltage regulators, master oscillators, noise-immune bistable and tristable trigger devices with passive storage elements and multi-bit memory cells, pulse frequency dividers, binary and ternary pulse counters in single-transition codes, programmable time relays with enhanced operating reliability, electronic code locks, self-synchronizing code converters, and other electronic devices. The range of technical solutions developed provides the basis for building digital systems for any functional purpose. The research results, based on the ideas of G.I. Shishkin, drive the improvement of existing devices and the creation of new ones with better technical characteristics, and make a notable contribution to the development of circuit design and design methods for microelectronic computing and control-system devices.

The results obtained substantially broaden the toolkit and possibilities available to designers of electronic equipment, simplify its design process, and help raise the efficiency and technical level of new designs. Under the guidance of G.I. Shishkin, and with his direct participation, the foundations were laid for a new scientific direction in engineering — the design of microelectronic digital devices resistant to powerful pulsed electromagnetic interference, and of radiation-hardened instruments and automation control subsystems resistant to pulsed ionizing radiation. The resulting expansion of the functional capabilities of automation instruments, together with improvements in their size, weight, reliability, and other technical characteristics, made it possible to raise the operational efficiency and safety of VNIIEF and VNII of Technical Physics designs. The construction methods he proposed raise the fault-free operation of digital devices under external interference up to the level of the electrical strength of the component base itself.

Key facts of his career

He has developed a large number of original technical solutions for various electronic devices; 245 of them have been patented, receiving USSR inventor's certificates or Russian Federation patents. He holds 38 inventions put into use in the designs of VNIIEF and VNIITF; all the technical solutions applied received high marks during series production and operation. He is the author of more than 310 published scientific works, including 2 monographs, 12 papers at conferences of various levels, including international ones, and 45 articles in various technical publications. From 1998 to 2002, as a professor, he taught the course "Radiation Hardness of Radio-Electronic Equipment" to students at the Sarov Institute of Physics and Technology. He has developed 9 teaching aids for students of the corresponding university specialties.
