Fruktovaya Street is a street in the Nizhegorodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, located in the Vyselki area — a historical territory between Vysokovo and Pechery.[3] The street's buildings took shape mainly in 1977–1978: along it stand nine-story panel buildings with reinforced-concrete floor slabs.[2]

Location and surroundings

The street begins at Rodionov Street and ends at Yablonevaya Street.[3] The name of the area, Vyselki, reflects a historical tradition: this was the name given to houses that stood apart, beyond the town limits. Delovaya Street also runs through this area.[3] Nearby are the Pechersky Ascension Monastery, the Pushkin Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, and Kulibin Park; the city center is about 3 km away.[1]

Housing stock

According to the housing stock register, the street's main buildings are nine-story panel buildings with reinforced-concrete load-bearing walls and floor slabs, built in 1977–1978. Among the recorded addresses are buildings 3, 5, 7, and 9, each with several sections.[2]

Improvements and repairs

In 2024, the road surface and sidewalks were repaired on the stretch from building 17 on Rodionov Street to building 7k1 on Fruktovaya Street. The repaired stretch was 0.43 km long; the repaired roadway covered 7,460 sq. m and the sidewalks 3,042 sq. m. The contractor was OOO Nizhavtodorstroy, and the contract cost was about 30.8 million rubles. The work was completed in November 2024; the City Duma deputy responsible for the project was O. V. Dekтерева.[3]

Events

In October 2013, near a supermarket on Fruktovaya Street, Mikhail Karyakin, a civic video documentarian who filmed protest actions in Nizhny Novgorod, was beaten; he suffered a traumatic brain injury and a double fracture of the jaw. The Nizhny Novgorod civic movement linked the attack to Karyakin's public activity and pointed to its similarity to a number of other attacks on Nizhny Novgorod activists.[3]
