In 1968 he worked as a foreman at the "Steklomash" plant (Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Moscow Region) and at the Gorky Automobile Plant, and as a foundry engineer at the Gorky Scientific-Research Institute of Instrument Engineering. Since 1971 he has worked at the Gorky Polytechnic Institute — senior engineer of the research sector (1971–1979), assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor at the "Foundry Production" department (1979–1986) and at the "Metallurgical and Heating Furnaces" department (now "Thermal Physics, Automation and Ecology of Furnaces") — associate professor (1987–2001), professor since 2002. Since 1982 — deputy dean of the "Materials Science and High-Temperature Technologies" faculty.
