Oleg Viktorovich Filchenkov (1971–2026) was the principal of Secondary School No. 14 in the city of Arzamas, Nizhny Novgorod Region, and an educator. He died suddenly on October 9, 2026.[1] His death was announced by the Mayor of Arzamas, Aleksandr Shchelokov, on his VKontakte page.[2]

Biography and Teaching Career

Oleg Filchenkov was born in 1971 into a family of educators.[3] After graduating from the local pedagogical institute, he began his career as a teacher at the "Kindergarten–School–Lyceum" complex.[3] He later moved into administrative work, taking the post of chief specialist in the city's department of education of Arzamas.[3]

For seven years, Filchenkov headed Arzamas School No. 15, and from 2014 he was the permanent head of School No. 14.[3] Under his leadership, the school, in the words of Mayor Shchelokov, became "a true educational community."[2] Filchenkov's professional achievements were recognized with teaching awards, including at the federal level.[2] One of the notable joint projects was the opening of the school's new building in Arzamas's 12th microdistrict.[1][4]

Farewell

A civil memorial service was held on the evening of October 9, 2026. On October 10, a memorial Rally took place in the inner courtyard of School No. 14, followed by a church funeral service.[3] Arzamas Mayor Aleksandr Shchelokov expressed his condolences to the family and colleagues, calling Filchenkov "a remarkable person and professional" and noting that for years he had given his students and staff his attention, knowledge, and warmth.[1][3]
