The Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an organization uniting representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and connected to the federal system of chambers of commerce and industry of Russia. Among Nizhny Novgorod entrepreneurs, the Chamber serves as a platform for coordinating business and professional interests. The organization's official name is the Union "Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nizhny Novgorod Region"; INN 5260002545, OGRN 1025200020086.[1]
Ties to the business community
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry's board includes heads of Nizhny Novgorod enterprises. In particular, one of the board members was Alexander Ivanovich Dmitriev — winner of the Russian "Manager of the Year 2000" competition and head of the enterprise Gorkovkhimpromtorg.[1]
The Chamber's building is located in the business center of Nizhny Novgorod at: Nesterova Street; the building has an enclosed parking area and an open lot used for exhibition displays.[2] The Chamber operates two conference halls — with capacities of up to 60 and up to 300 people — equipped with modern sound and presentation systems supporting online broadcasts and videoconferencing.[1]
In 2022, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nizhny Novgorod Region became a laureate of the 13th All-Russian RUSSIAN BUSINESS TRAVEL MICE AWARD in the category "Best Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Development of the Congress and Exhibition Industry."[1]
The Chamber has an affiliated organization — the ANO "Agency for the Development of International Cooperation", as well as a branch of the Chamber in Dzerzhinsk.[3] In 2024, the Chamber marked the 40th anniversary of its history, reflected in the special project "40-Year History of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nizhny Novgorod Region."[3]
Predecessors and related structures
The institutional predecessor of the Chamber in the Soviet period was the Gorky Bureau of Commodity Expertise of the Moscow branch of the USSR Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which operated Gorky. Dmitry Germanovich Krasnov worked there from 1985 to 1989 and was later connected with the activities of the Chamber itself.[2]
