This category collects articles about mektebe (maktabs) — Muslim Sunday schools operating at mosques in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. This form of religious education has a long tradition in the region: in Nizhny Novgorod Governorate such institutions were historically known by the Tatar word "mektebe." Among the best known are the Mektebe Ihsan at the Nizhny Novgorod Cathedral Mosque, the Mektebe Arafat in Dzerzhinsk, and the Mektebe Rashida in the village of Medyana, Krasnooktyabrsky District. Since 2003, schools operating under the Makhinur madrasah have officially been called maktabs.
