Borskiy stekolnyy Plant (BSZ) is an industrial enterprise located in the city of Bor, Nizhny Novgorod Region. It ranks among the major Russian manufacturers of glass products; as of the mid-1990s it operated as an open joint-stock company.
Management and Administration
Since 1996, the General Director of JSC Borskiy stekolnyy Plant has been Valery Viktorovich Tarbeyev — Doctor of Technical Sciences and Honored Builder of the Russian Federation. Among the plant's employees and managers over the years are: Nikolay Anisimovich Polyakov, who served as shop foreman and secretary of the party committee,[1] and Evgeniy Viktorovich Lebedyev — winner of the Russian competition "Manager of the Year — 2005" in the Transport category.[2]
Connections with Education and Science
Borskiy stekolnyy Plant was among the enterprises for which Nizhny Novgorod scholar Aleksandr Petrovich Yegorshin trained specialists and led the transition to new economic management conditions. Along with ZMZ and GAZ, the plant is cited as one of the major organizations covered by this work.[3]
Public Life
The plant employed Olga Konstantinovna Gorshkova — a marovshchitsa (glass-painting worker) who was subsequently elected a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR (1985).[4] The plant is mentioned among the most sought-after topics in the Nizhny Novgorod city encyclopedia. In July 2022, plans were announced to establish the Volga industrial technopark on the plant's premises: the relevant agreement was signed by Maksim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Nizhny Novgorod Region, and Natalya Kushneruk, Director of Prano Group LLC, at the Innoprom-2022 international industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg. Prano Group LLC, the project's initiator, had by that time already leased production space on the plant's territory and planned to carry out modernization and reconstruction of the industrial and technological infrastructure. The total area of the Volga technopark is to exceed 10,000 square meters; companies engaged in electronics industry development — including the production of electronic boards and components for the automotive and other sectors — were intended to become its residents.[5][5][5]
