Reasons for Creation
Natalia Yakunina, head of the nationwide program "Sanctity of Motherhood," said at the center's opening: "The 'Sanctity of Motherhood' program has already been operating for five years in 13 regions of Russia. At the first stage we worked to have psychologist positions introduced in women's clinics, which has already helped save thousands of children's lives. This center is the first step in implementing the next stage. We hope this is only the beginning, and that over time there will be more such centers, appearing not only in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast but in other Russian cities as well," Natalia Yakunina emphasized.
According to Olga Noskova, Minister of Social Policy, this is the first experience of implementing such a project through joint effort: "This project is especially dear to us, primarily because the initiative comes not from the government, but from the Orthodox Church and civil society. And that means people are ready to help expectant mothers."
Description of the Center
The center is intended to help women left without the support of loved ones, so that their children have the chance to be born regardless of life's circumstances.
The rooms are designed to accommodate eight pregnant women and three mothers with newborns.
You can help the center with needed items (strollers, diapers, groceries) or make an electronic transfer.
