Adrian Ropoțan (born May 8, 1986, in Galați) is a Romanian footballer, a midfielder. In February 2013 he signed a contract with Nizhny Novgorod's Volga and played for the club in the Russian football championship.[2]

Career before Volga

From 2004, Ropoțan played for Dinamo Bucharest, appearing in more than 80 matches for the club, including 18 in European competitions. In the 2008/09 season he played 15 games, receiving six yellow cards and two red cards.[2] In February 2009, Dynamo Moscow announced the signing of a four-year contract with him.[2] On August 31, 2011, Ropoțan moved to Tom on loan until the end of the season, and in January 2013, as a free agent, he returned to Dynamo Moscow.[2]

At Volga

On February 5, 2013, Nizhny Novgorod's Volga signed Ropoțan to a contract of a year and a half. The deal was completed during the team's second winter training camp in Belek, Turkey; by that point the player had already been training with the team for two days.[2] The transfer was announced on Twitter by Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region Dmitry Svatkovsky — it was the club's first acquisition of the offseason.[2] Volga's press office described the signing as a reinforcement of the defensive midfield and noted that another Romanian player at the club, Mihăiță Pleșan, was expected to help the newcomer adapt.[2] At the time the contract was signed, Volga stood 13th in the Premier League table with 17 points; the next home match was scheduled for March 10, 2013, against Krasnodar's Kuban.[2]

Romania national team

Ropoțan played 16 matches for the Romania under-21 team, beginning his appearances in 2008.[2] He made his debut for the senior national team on November 19, 2008, in a game against Georgia that ended in a 2–1 victory for Romania.[2]
