Education
Gorky State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky (with honors), specialty — "physical chemistry", 1956.
Previous places of work
In 1970–2001 — head of the Department of Physical Chemistry at UNN, in 1970–1986 — director of the Research Institute of Chemistry at GSU, from 1991 — director of the NPP "KHIKOMA". A follower of the scientific school of Academician N.N. Semenov (Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences) and Professor V.A. Shushunov (Lobachevsky UNN).
Main directions of scientific work
Kinetics and catalysis of the oxidation of organoelement compounds by oxygen, peroxide compounds, and ozone; synthesis of composite nanostructured materials; applied aspects — high-temperature and fire-retardant materials, filters for metal refining, catalysts and catalyst supports for petrochemical production. He developed the following scientific directions: autoxidation of organoelement compounds by oxygen and ozone (kinetics, mechanisms, applied aspects); low-temperature synthesis of composite nanostructured materials with a "working" temperature of up to 2000–2500°C.
Key facts of his career
He holds 2 scientific discoveries — "The phenomenon of radical formation during ligand-exchange interaction of organometallic compounds" (2003, co-authors — G.A. Razuvaev and S.A. Lebedev) and "The phenomenon of inhibition of valuable chemical processes by methane, its closest analogues, and hydrogen" (2007, co-authors — S.A. Lebedev, N.V. Kuznetsov); 97 patents of the Russian Federation and inventor's certificates of the USSR (jointly with colleagues). Author (including together with students) of 3 scientific monographs, 28 monographic reviews, more than 400 original scientific articles, more than 400 scientific presentations at international congresses, conferences and symposiums. In the creative team led by Professor Yu.A. Alexandrov, 6 doctors of science and more than 50 candidates of science were trained. Science adviser to the American Biographical Institute (USA), named "Man of the Year" (1995, 1996, 1997, 2001) according to the rating of the American Biographical Institute. Full member (academician) of the International Academy of Authors of Scientific Discoveries and Inventions, the European Academy of Natural Sciences, and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Honored Professor of Lobachevsky UNN.
Awards
The Order "Badge of Honor", the medal "Veteran of Labor", honorary badges — "For Outstanding Achievements in Work" of the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR, "Inventor of the USSR", diplomas — "Developer in the Field of Space Technology" and the commemorative medal named after Academician M.V. Keldysh (2001, Russia), "For Scientific Discovery No. 227" and the commemorative medal named after Academician P.L. Kapitsa (2006, Russia), "For Special Merit in Scientific Research" and the commemorative medal named after Academician Robert Koch (2008, Germany).
Hobbies
Travel and tourism. As a car enthusiast, he visited many memorable places in the European part of the USSR. In later years he visited many countries on all continents of the world and island states of the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
