Yunost Sports School (official name variants: Yunost Sports Palace, Yunost Fitness and Recreation Complex) is a fitness and recreation complex and sports school in the Moskovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, opened in September 2016.[1] It is located at 5a Yaroshenko Street, on the border with the Sormovsky District, between Sormovo Park (home of the Limpopo Zoo) and the Sokol aircraft plant.[1]

Facilities and Sports

The complex has a swimming pool: students of the school compete in swimming events over distances of 25 and 50 meters.[2] Since 2016, an aikido section for children aged 6 and up and for adults has operated in the building, with classes held three times a week. The section's instructor is Alexander Nikolayevich Ignatyev (5th dan in Aikikai aikido), who has professional training as a "coach-instructor in physical culture and sports" and a second-level coaching qualification from the National Council of Aikido of Russia.[1]

As part of the expansion of sports infrastructure in Nizhny Novgorod's municipal schools, a sledge hockey division — a discipline for athletes with disabilities — was opened at Yunost. This coincided with the launch of new sections at other city facilities: karting at the Yu. Kruglov Sormovo Sports School and Paralympic goalball at Olymp.[1]

Location and Accessibility

The nearest public transport stops are "Park Kultury" and "Yaroshenko"; the "Park Kultury" tram stop is served by routes No. 6 and No. 7.[1]
