After demobilization from the ranks of the Soviet Army, he was hired at the Zavolzhskaya geological-geophysical party of the Sredne-Volzhskaya geological survey expedition of the PGO "Tsentrgeologiya" in the settlement of Neklyudovo in the Borsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, as a geophysics technician, then — senior geophysics technician, detachment chief, chief engineer and party chief. In 1989 he was transferred to deputy chief for economics of the Sredne-Volzhskaya geological survey expedition (city of Gorky). Since 1998 — deputy general director for economics of the Federal State Unitary Geological Enterprise "Volgageologiya".
