Lyakhovich Vladimir Vladimirovich (born August 5, 1950, village of Aslavenyaty, Smorgon District, Grodno Region) — economist specializing in geological exploration; since 1998, Deputy Director General for Economics at the Nizhny Novgorod geological enterprise Volgageologiya, which was converted into a joint-stock company in 2013 and in 2018 was merged into a Moscow-based association, ceasing to exist.[1][2][3]
From Geophysical Technician to Party Chief
After demobilization from the Soviet Army, he joined the Zavolzhye Geological and Geophysical Party of the Middle Volga Geological Exploration Expedition of the Tsentrgеologiya production geological association in the settlement of Neklyudovo, Borsky District. There he also served as senior geophysical technician, squad chief, chief engineer, and party chief.[1]
In 1989 he was transferred as Deputy Chief for Economics of the Middle Volga Geological Exploration Expedition in Gorky, and from 1998 as Deputy Director General for Economics of Volgageologiya. He graduated from Perm State University.[1]
The expeditions from which he rose worked across Zavolzhye and the entire Middle Volga region: geophysical subsurface exploration of the Nizhny Novgorod Region was their permanent task.[1]
Economics of Geological Exploration
Lyakhovich's professional field is the economics of geological exploration operations and the organization of management at geological exploration enterprises, with the aim of improving their operational efficiency and expanding the application of geophysical methods.[1]
His publications comprise geological and geophysical reports on eight sites. He has been recognized with the badges "Honorary Subsurface Prospector" and "300 Years of the Mining and Geological Service," is an academic adviser of the Academy of Humanitarian Sciences (AGN), and a corresponding member of the International Academy of Mineral Resources (MAMR). He speaks English, Portuguese, and German.[1]
Volgageologiya
The federal state unitary geological enterprise Volgageologiya operated at Vaneev Street, 18, in the Sovetsky District of Nizhny Novgorod.[2]
On May 31, 2013, the enterprise was reorganized into the open joint-stock company Volgageologiya: upon registration, 3.38 million ordinary shares were placed at a par value of one hundred rubles each.[4][3]
In January 2014 it became known that the state geological holding company Rosgeologiya, under the jurisdiction of the Federal Agency for State Property Management, had acquired 99.9 percent of the company's authorized capital; the holding company later became its managing organization.[4][3]
On April 6, 2018, the joint-stock company Volgageologiya ceased to exist, having been merged into the Moscow joint-stock company Tsentralnoye Proizvodstvenno-Geologicheskoye Obyedineniye (Central Production and Geological Association).[3]

Geological Museum
The enterprise maintained a geological museum. Its core was a regional lithostratigraphic collection substantiating the validity of stratigraphic sections, accompanied by a palaeontological collection and a collection of mineral resources; minerals and rocks were arranged in chronological order and stratigraphic sequence.[5]
The collection told the geological history of the region and was assembled under the auspices of the state geological enterprise that no longer exists.[3][5]
