His entire career is tied to the plant named after Sverdlov: in 1970 he worked as a lathe operator machining special components; in 1982 he became a foreman; in 1985, a section chief; in 1995, head of shop 43 (a washing-machine production shop). In 2001 he became a deputy of the City Duma for the 1st district of Dzerzhinsk. For two years he combined work at the plant with work in the City Duma. From 2003 to 2005 he was Chairman of the 3rd convocation of the Dzerzhinsk City Duma.
