vega-autogas.ru is the website of the Nizhny Novgorod company Vega-Avtogaz, which installs, services, and repairs gas cylinder equipment for cars in Nizhny Novgorod and Dzerzhinsk [1][2]. The company has been operating since 2000 [2], and the website since 2009 [3][4].

History

The domain vega-autogas.ru was registered in June 2009 [3]. The earliest surviving copy of the site in the web archive dates from October 2009: the page was titled "VEGA AVTOGAZ — Gas Cylinder Equipment in Nizhny Novgorod and Dzerzhinsk" and, in its description, named three of the company's activities — the sale, installation, and repair of gas cylinder equipment [4]. The site was built on the DataLife Engine platform [4].

By the summer of 2011, the site had gained sections titled "About the Company", "Reviews", "Q&A", "Jobs", photographs of completed installations, a section on repair and maintenance, an informational page called "What You Need to Know About LPG Equipment", and a map of automobile gas filling stations. The company itself wrote at the time that it had been installing gas equipment on domestic Cars, PAZ buses, and foreign-made cars for "more than nine years", and its home page explained why one would convert a car to gas in the first place: propane-butane has an octane rating of 105 and methane 120, compared with 92–95 for gasoline [5]. In January 2013, the company's services expanded to include diagnostics, refilling, and repair of automotive air conditioners [6].

In January 2018, the site's headline changed to "We install LPG systems on any car, no days off. 12-month warranty. Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk"; the menu gained a section on registering gas equipment with the traffic police (GIBDD), a section on installation on direct-injection engines, and news, while photographs of completed work were sorted by car make — from PAZ, "GAZelle," Volga", UAZ, and VAZ to foreign makes [7]. By January 2022, the site had moved to its current look, with the footer "© 2001–2021": it gained dual-fuel gas-diesel systems — installation of gas equipment on diesel engines — equipment for special-purpose vehicles, conversion to methane, and reference articles on gas systems from various manufacturers [8].

Site Content

The site currently describes Vega-Autogas as a network of service centers for the installation, repair, and maintenance of gas cylinder equipment; according to the company, it was founded in Nizhny Novgorod in 2000 and has changed neither its brand nor its owners since. Over the past ten years, the site reports, company staff have converted more than 9,863 cars to liquefied petroleum gas and over 470 to compressed natural gas. Since November 1, 2019, the company has been the authorized representative of the gas equipment manufacturer Lovato Gas in Nizhny Novgorod and Dzerzhinsk [2].

Besides the description of its services, the site has reference sections: a list of propane and methane filling stations in Nizhny Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod Region, articles on gas systems and on the gas itself, and on the inspection and documentation of gas equipment [1][10].
