Razumov Vasily Ivanovich (1892–1973) was a Russian and Soviet theatre actor, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1956). From 1932 to 1968 he served at the Gorky Drama Theatre (now the Nizhny Novgorod Academic Drama Theatre named after M. Gorky), becoming one of the company's leading performers of the Soviet era.[1]
Creative career
Razumov began his stage career in Kostroma in 1910 as an amateur actor. From 1923 he worked at the Studio Productions Theatre in Kostroma under the direction of A. D. Popov, then performed in theatres in Samara, Kazan, and Yaroslavl.[1]
In Nizhny Novgorod
In 1932 Razumov was invited to Nizhny Novgorod by Sobolshchikov-Samarin Nikolai Ivanovich and joined the company of the Gorky Drama Theatre, where he worked until 1968. His greatest success came from roles in the comedies of A. N. Ostrovsky and the plays of Maxim Gorky. Among his best-known roles was Field Marshal Kutuzov in the play of the same name.[1]
Recognition
In 1956 Vasily Razumov was awarded the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR.[1]
