Vanja Plisnic (born July 28, 1980) is a professional basketball player, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, who played as a power forward (forward-center). He is 207 cm (6 ft 9 in) tall and weighs 100 kg (220 lb). In the 2010/11 season he played for the Nizhny Novgorod basketball club "Nizhny Novgorod" in the Professional Basketball League (BEKO PBL).[1][3]

Playing for Nizhny Novgorod

The contract with the Nizhny Novgorod club was signed in August 2010. The team's head coach, Sergey Panov, noted that Plisnic was well adapted to Russian basketball.[1] The player himself said on the eve of the season that he had missed Russia and expressed hope for the support of Nizhny Novgorod fans.[1] According to PBL statistics, over five games of the season Plisnic averaged 9.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 assists per game, with an efficiency rating of 9.2.[3] In January 2011 the club terminated his contract — according to coach Zoran Lukic, the player had had five months to prove himself.[1]

Career before and after Nizhny Novgorod

Before moving to Nizhny Novgorod, Plisnic had also played in Russian basketball. After his contract was terminated in January 2011, he moved to the Italian club Dinamo Sassari, where he stayed for several years: in July 2011 he re-signed with the club.[1] He subsequently played in the Turkish league: in 2014 he stayed with Ankara, and in 2015 he moved to Selçuk.[1]
