Unveiling of the bust of Kavi Nadzhmi in Urazovka — a ceremony held on October 10, 2026, in the central square of the village of Urazovka in Krasnooktyabrsky District of Nizhny Novgorod Region. The bust was erected in honor of Kavi Nadzhmi — a native of the Nizhny Novgorod land, a prose writer, poet, translator, public figure, and State Prize laureate who made a significant contribution to the development of Tatar culture.[1]

Unveiling ceremony

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Vasil Shaykhraziev, and the writer's granddaughter.[1][2] Governor Nikitin described Nadzhmi as a remarkably talented and versatile man whose works reflected the fate of the ordinary Soviet person during the turning points of history.[3] Nadzhmi was called one of the foremost chroniclers of Tatarstan's martial glory.[3] Nikitin also thanked the initiators of the bust's installation, its creators, as well as the Republic of Tatarstan and its leadership, represented by Rustam Minnikhanov, for supporting Nizhny Novgorod initiatives.[1]

Place in the memorial space

The bust is installed in the central square of Urazovka, next to the previously unveiled monuments to Rashit Vagapov and Khaydar Bigichev — outstanding figures of Tatar culture whose lives were also connected with Nizhny Novgorod Region.[1][4] With the appearance of the Najmi bust, the avenue of remembrance for outstanding figures of the Tatar people in the center of Urazovka has come to unite the sculptural portraits of three fellow countrymen.[3][4]
