Shchitkovy Settlement is located in Leninsky District, between Lenin Avenue and the Oka. It arose in the 1930s during the construction of several factories — a place where workers huddled in hastily built shchitkovy houses (prefabricated panel houses). The settlement had its own Shchitkovy movie theater, captured in a photograph from 1937; the settlement's main street was called Kirov Avenue.[1]
