Golden Toad is a Nizhny Novgorod award for achievements in show business. The award was conceived by the show group "Tri Yozha" ("Three Hedgehogs") — a duo consisting of Lyudmila Filatova and Elena Kravchenko, who work in the genres of parody, body art, and original performance.[1]

The award recognizes the best performers appearing in clubs and at corporate events, including magicians, singers, fire-show artists, and the finest specialists in spoken-word entertainment. The ceremony is held annually: in 2012, for instance, the award presentation took place on March 5 in Nizhny Novgorod. Voting for the laureates is conducted within the professional community: Nizhny Novgorod performers, hosts, dancers, musicians, and art and event agencies select the most deserving of their colleagues themselves. Winners receive a statuette of a toad holding a coin — a symbol of recognition from the Nizhny Novgorod show-business community. At the 2012 ceremony, winners were determined in 13 categories, including "Best Erotic Performance Artist," "Best Club Show," "Best DJ," "Best Vocals," "Best Art Agency (Manager)," "Discovery of the Year," and "Artist of the Year."[2][2][2][2]
