Golubaya Diviziya — a hooliganistic proletarian gang in the city of Gorky, historically formed in the Karavaikha area, near the home of its leader — a young worker who had gained a reputation as an extraordinary bare-knuckle fighter. In the 1950s–70s, the gang extended its influence along a broad stretch of Gagarin Avenue, roughly from the Lenin Plant to the Sports Palace and the Macaroni Factory.
It was made up of working-class youth. The name, chosen "for swagger," mirrors that of the armed forces sent by the Spanish dictator General Franco to fight against Soviet power.
The gang terrorized ordinary residents, though it was engaged less in robbery than in organizing fistfights among working-class youth, which took place in Shveytsariya Park.
By the late 1970s and early 1980s, the gang's activity had begun to wane.
