"Creative Practices Team" is a Nizhny Novgorod grant program supporting projects in the creative industries, operating since 2022. It is run by the autonomous nonprofit organization "Center 800" and aims to develop creative initiatives of residents and organizations of Nizhny Novgorod Region.[1]

Goals and participants

The program supports projects in six areas, and from 2026 in seven: gastronomy, fashion, crafts and traditional trades, film, visual arts, performing arts, and the unity of the peoples of Russia.[2] Four categories of applicants are eligible: legal entities (commercial organizations) and individual entrepreneurs registered in Nizhny Novgorod Region for at least three years; legal entities and individual entrepreneurs registered for at least one year; individuals with residence registration in the region; and nonprofit organizations registered for at least one year.[2]

The maximum grant size for the main competition rounds is up to 2,000,000 rubles for commercial organizations and individual entrepreneurs with more than three years of registration; up to 1,000,000 rubles for the special round; and up to 200,000 rubles for individuals.[2] In 2023, 100 million rubles were allocated to support the initiatives of Nizhny Novgorod residents.[1]

Competition structure

Applications are accepted in rounds: the special grant round is devoted to a particular theme (in 2026, "Unity of the Peoples of Russia"), while the first and second main rounds cover all six or seven areas. The first round of the 2024 main competition began on March 2, with applications accepted until March 22; the "film" area was not singled out separately in it — instead, the areas "visual arts" and "performing arts" were in effect.[4] The second round of the 2024 competition was aimed, among others, at novice specialists in the creative industries: applications were accepted from April 8 to 28, and the grant support for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs in this round was up to 500 thousand rubles.[3] Applications are reviewed according to the procedure described in the publicly available methodological documents posted on the program's official website, nn-creative.ru.[2]

Supported events

In March 2023, with the program's support, a lecture by art historian and ethnocultural scholar Andrey Borovsky, "Fashionable Keys to the Folk Costume," took place at the Volga-Vyatka branch of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts ("Arsenal"); it dealt with the mechanisms of fashion in traditional folk costume and the phenomenon of "village dandyism." The organizer was the Gorodets cultural center "Lev i Vishnya."[1]
