Sharonov Alexander Georgievich (born April 4, 1971, Gorky) is a Nizhny Novgorod banker and politician, Chairman of the Board of PJSC "NBD-Bank", deputy of the Regional Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast of the II–VII convocations from United Russia, and for many years chairman of the budget and taxes committee [1][2]. One of the longest-serving members of the regional parliament: he has held a seat there continuously since 1998 [6], and in the 2026 ZSNO deputy influence rating he placed second [4].
Biography
Born April 4, 1971, in Gorky. He graduated twice from Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University: in 1992 in "radiophysics and electronics", and in 1999 in "jurisprudence" [1].
He began his career in 1992 at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences [2]. From 1993 he worked at the bank "Nizhegorodsky Bankirsky Dom" (Nizhny Novgorod Banking House, NBD-Bank), rising from economist to head of the securities management department; in 1997 he became chairman of the bank's board and has remained its permanent head ever since [1][6].
Outside parliament
NBD-Bank has operated since 1992. Sharonov is not only its top manager but also its largest co-owner: as of 2019 he held 29.25% of the bank's shares, including 17.8% of common shares [3].
He headed the council of the non-profit partnership "Nizhny Novgorod Banking Association" [1].
In the Legislative Assembly
He was first elected a deputy of the Legislative Assembly on March 29, 1998, and has been re-elected continuously ever since, from the II through the VII convocation; in the III convocation he belonged to the Union of Right Forces (SPS) faction, later joining United Russia [2][4][6]. He won four times in single-member constituency No. 21, centered on Balakhna; in the VI convocation he was elected from the United Russia party list (territorial group No. 23, Bor urban district) [2].
He has chaired the budget and taxes committee, through which the region's main financial document passes, for several convocations in a row [2]. The news agency "Nizhny Seychas", summing up the results of the VII convocation, pointed directly to a conflict of interest: the parliament's budget committee has been headed for more than one convocation by a sitting banker [5]. In the same agency's 2026 ZSNO deputy influence rating, Sharonov placed second with 310 points, entering the top "strong influence" group [4].
Lawsuit by a former bank shareholder
In 2019 the Cyprus-registered company Clairmont Holdings Limited, which until 2018 had owned more than 3% of NBD-Bank's shares, sought through arbitration to recover 2.4 million rubles in damages from Sharonov as the bank's head — the amount of fines the bank had paid under four Bank of Russia administrative-offense rulings. In early October 2019 it became known that the Arbitration Court of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast had dismissed the claim [3].

The years he headed the council of the non-profit partnership "Nizhny Novgorod Banking Association": his profile on the Legislative Assembly's website gives 2003–2019, while other sources do not mention these dates.
