«RUMO» is a Nizhny Novgorod machine-building plant specializing in the production of internal combustion engines, compressor equipment, and gas-pumping machinery. Founded in 1874, its current legal form — joint-stock company JSC «RUMO» — was established in 2018 on the basis of OJSC «RUMO».[1] The plant is located at: Nizhny Novgorod, Admiral Nakhimov Street, 13.[2]
History
The plant traces its history to 1874, when the enterprise «Felzer and Co.» was founded. During the Soviet era it was known as «Dvigatel Revolyutsii» (Engine of the Revolution). The current legal entity — JSC «RUMO» — was established in 2018; the enterprise holds sole ownership of the intellectual property rights to all design and technological documentation, including patents and the trademarks «RUMO» and «Dvigatel Revolyutsii».[1]
Products and Activities
The plant develops, manufactures, and services a wide range of equipment: medium-speed diesel, gas-diesel, and gas-piston internal combustion engines with outputs ranging from 750 to 1,200 kW (prospectively up to 1,600 kW), power generation units based on these engines, opposed-piston compressors, gas engine compressors, fully packaged gas-pumping units along with their modules and systems, as well as marine propulsion systems for river and sea vessels.[1] Over its entire operational history, the enterprise has produced more than 40,000 internal combustion engines and over 2,000 gas engine compressors.[1]
The main industry segments served are the oil and gas industry, small-scale power generation, and shipbuilding. In the power generation segment, the plant offers comprehensive engineering solutions for the construction and modernization of small-scale power facilities in the form of modular power units.[1]
Unique Market Positions
According to the enterprise's own data, JSC «RUMO» is the sole manufacturer of gas engine compressors in Russia, as well as the country's only manufacturer of piston compressors with a capacity exceeding 1 MW for natural gas compression. The plant has its own production facilities with a unique machine-tool inventory and an in-house design and engineering department.[1]
