1972-1975 — East Germany, physics teacher; 1975-1982 — instructor, department head, second and first secretary of the Komsomol (VLKSM) in Arzamas. From 1982 to 1983 — deputy shop superintendent at the Arzamas Instrument-Making Plant. From 1983 to 1984 — head of an organizational department of the city committee of the CPSU (GK KPSS), 1984-1985 — studies at the Higher Party School in Gorky. 1985-1987 — deputy secretary of the party committee at a machine-building plant.

Key facts of his work
For high performance in educational work, following the results of a regional review-competition in 2000 the college became the best educational institution among primary and secondary vocational education establishments. In 2002 — 1st place at the All-Russian Art-Profi Forum. In 1997 the college was included in the UNESCO Associated Schools project in the areas of studying the achievements of world culture and the traditions and history of the peoples of Russia and other countries through vocational and supplementary education.
