On 3 September 2026 the parish school in the village of Lvovka, Bolshoye Boldino district, reopened after a year of restoration as part of the Boldino museum reserve. The building was put up in 1903–1904 with the support of the poet's son, Alexander Alexandrovich Pushkin. [1] [2]

The building

The school was built by the peasant community of Lvovka in 1903–1904 with the support of Alexander Alexandrovich Pushkin, who owned the local estate. For some seventy years children were taught in the house: first at a parish school, later at a primary and then an eight-year school. [2]

After the school closed the building passed to the museum reserve, and a museum display opened there on 6 June 2009. The house is listed as a cultural heritage site of regional significance. [1] [2]

Restoration

The work ran from June 2025 to June 2026 and cost about fifteen million roubles from the regional budget. [1] [2]

The brick foundation and the façade were repaired, part of the log frame was replaced, the window and door frames and the porch were restored, and the stoves were rebuilt from historical records. Restorers estimate the building will now stand for about thirty years. [1] [2]

What is inside

The display occupies three rooms: the classroom, the teacher's room and the entrance hall. These are not showcases but the restored setting of a village school of the early twentieth century. [1]

In the classroom there are Erisman desks, dip pens and inkwells, pre-revolutionary exercise books, maps of the hemispheres and a portrait of Nicholas II. The genuine items were gathered over more than two years by the collector Vyacheslav Khurtin, an honorary citizen of Nizhny Novgorod. [1] [2]
