Olga Vladimirovna Shchetinina (born 30 March 1975) is a Russian statesman, representing Nizhny Novgorod Region in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation since December 2023. She was vested with authority on 12 December 2023 as a representative from the executive body of state power of the region; her term of office expires in September 2028.[2]
Education and Early Career
In 1997 she graduated with honors from the Volga-Vyatka Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, majoring in "State and Municipal Administration", qualification "manager".[1] In 2020 she completed postgraduate studies at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, in the field "Researcher. Teacher-Researcher".[2]
From 2002 to 2006 she served as first deputy head of the executive committee of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Branch of the United Russia, while simultaneously heading the department for public relations.[1] From 2006 to 2011 she headed the staff of the United Russia faction in the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region.[1] From 2009 she was the regional coordinator of the party project "Personnel Reserve — Professional Team of the Country".[1]
In July 2011 the presidium of the General Council of United Russia approved the proposal of the party's Central Executive Committee and appointed her head of the regional executive committee of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Branch, succeeding Mikhail Manukhin in that post.[1] At the same time, from 2011 she was a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region of the V convocation, deputy chair of the Committee on Information Policy, Rules of Procedure and Civil Society Institutions Development, and also deputy head of the United Russia faction in the Legislative Assembly.[1] Immediately before her appointment to the Federation Council she held the post of First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Region.[2]
Activity in the Federation Council
She is a member of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture.[2] As part of her senatorial work, she took part in discussions on inclusive education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and the implementation of a pilot project on wool processing.[2]
She supported the educational project "Women's Leadership. Mothers of Many Children", organized with the assistance of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum: participants in the competition implemented more than 40 social projects.[2]
Awards
In 2023 she was awarded the medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland", II degree.[2]
