The Nizhny Novgorod Humanitarian Center was an educational and pedagogical institution that operated in Nizhny Novgorod from the late 1980s through the 1990s and into the early 2000s. The Center engaged in scholarly, methodological, and publishing activities in the field of education.

Activities

The Center published collections devoted to issues of pedagogy and education. In particular, in 2004 it released the collection "Health and Education", which featured works by Nizhny Novgorod specialists in pedagogy and educational management. In 2003 the Center published the book "Nikolo-Pogost. History of a Distinguished selo of the Nizhny Novgorod Volga Region" by Galina Krekova, prepared on the basis of publications by Doctor of Historical Sciences at Lobachevsky University N. Filatov, and devoted to the history of the oldest selo in Nizhny Novgorod Region.[1]

Authority

From 1989 to 2006, the director of the Nizhny Novgorod Humanitarian Center was historian Aleksandr Davidovich Belyavsky — a graduate of Lobachevsky University (1965), who had previously served as an associate professor at the same university. In 2007, the Nizhny Novgorod Humanitarian Center was reorganized by merger with the Nizhny Novgorod Institute for Educational Development: the corresponding order of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Department of Education is dated October 30, 2007.[2]
