The "More Than You Can" Charitable Foundation for the Development of Inclusion in Sports (BF BChM) is a Russian nonprofit organization founded in 2016 and officially registered in 2018. The foundation brings together athletes with different physical abilities and volunteers for joint training sessions and participation in mass sporting events. Among the organization's plans is the launch of regular inclusive training sessions in Nizhny Novgorod.[1]

History and Mission

The "MoreThanYouCan" community began as a running movement in 2016; two years later, in 2018, it received the status of a charitable foundation. The organization's mission was formulated by its founder and director, Vadim Grigoryevich Zelensky, as "to fulfill everyone's dreams together, uniting people with different physical abilities into a community."[1]

Activities

The foundation's main area of work is inclusive amateur sports. Athletes with disabilities take part in races in tandem with volunteers at major city events: the Moscow Half Marathon, the "Running Hearts" race, the "My Capital Half Marathon," as well as triathlon competitions in Kazan and Kaliningrad. At the time the information was published, the foundation had held more than 300 inclusive training sessions, supported 63 beneficiaries, and had a team of over 200 active volunteers.[1]

In addition to sporting events, non-sporting inclusive activities are held for beneficiaries, such as cooking workshops and a sailing regatta. The "Triathlon for Everyone" project and a training course for volunteers at mass competitions on working with para-athletes have also been launched.[1]

Connection to Nizhny Novgorod

Among the foundation's stated plans for 2023–2024 is the organization of regular inclusive training sessions in Nizhny Novgorod (alongside Volgograd and Krasnodar), as well as holding its own inclusive race in Moscow for 1,000 participants and an Inclusion Festival at VDNKh.[1]
