In August 2025, Nizhny Novgorod gained yet another monument to Ivan Kulibin — a sculptural composition in a square on Ilyinskaya Hill, on Krutoy Lane; the location was no coincidence: it was in this historic district of Zapochaine that the Kulibin family estate stood in the 18th century. The new monument is an interactive art object: a metal structure mounted on screw piles supports elements of a mechanical mobile that visitors can set in motion using a lever-pendulum; the moving parts are made of 4 mm sheet aluminum, while the base is constructed from galvanized steel profile tube. The project's sculptor was Konstantin Aleksandrov and the architect was Dmitry Aleksandrov; the commission was placed by ANO "Tsentr 800", and the total cost of developing the concept and erecting the monument came to 10 million rubles.[1][1][1]
The monument to Ivan Kulibin stands next to his grave. It is located at the center of a specially arranged plaza; in the 2020s the plaza surrounding it was renovated as part of the "Forming a Comfortable Urban Environment" program under the national project "Housing and Urban Environment."[2]
