The "Meteor 120R" is a modern hydrofoil river vessel of project 03580 for 120 passengers, successor to the Meteor (hydrofoil))". Alexeyev) in the Chkalovsk district of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. [1]

Successor

If the "Valday 45R" serves small rivers, the "Meteor 120R" serves large ones: one hundred twenty passengers, roughly the capacity of the historic "Meteor," the most numerous series of the Soviet hydrofoil fleet. [1] The vessel is nearly 36 meters long and about 10 meters wide, with an average cruising speed of 65 km/h and a crew of just six; at the time the lead vessel was launched, it was the largest hydrofoil river vessel. [2]

The lead vessel was laid down in December 2019 and launched in August 2021, the year of Nizhny Novgorod's 800th anniversary. [2] Vessels of this series are named after figures tied to Nizhny Novgorod's history: the launch of the "Andrey Baykov" in 2026 was marked by a separate entry in the city chronicle. [1]
