Luke Petrasek is an American professional basketball player, a forward, who played for BC Nizhny Novgorod in the 2020/21 season. He was born in New York State. He moved to Nizhny Novgorod at the age of 24 during the 2020 offseason.[2]

Career before Nizhny Novgorod

Petrasek spent the previous season in Germany, playing for Gießen, a club in the country's top division (the Bundesliga). It was his first season in Europe. In the Bundesliga he played 11 games, averaging 10.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 21 minutes on the court.[2]

At Nizhny Novgorod

A one-year contract with BC Nizhny Novgorod was signed on July 14, 2020. The club's head coach Zoran Lukic described his role as a power forward paired with Alexander Chadov, as well as an occasional center, thanks to his mobility and energy. The club's general manager, Sergey Panov, expressed hope that Nizhny Novgorod would become a "springboard into big-time basketball" for Petrasek.[2]

In September 2020, still during preseason training, Petrasek suffered a displaced fracture of the radius bone in his right arm in an exhibition game against Saratov's Avtodor. The American underwent surgery and was sidelined for two and a half to three months.[3]

After the season at Nizhny Novgorod, in July 2021 Petrasek moved to the Polish club Anwil, where he spent four consecutive seasons and became one of the team's key players: in the 2022/23 season he averaged 14.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in the Ekstraliga.[5]

In October 2025, Petrasek moved to the Spanish club Bilbao, which plays in the ACB (the top division of the Spanish championship) and the FIBA Champions League.[4]

In 2025, Petrasek played for the Poland national team at EuroBasket, appearing in 6 games and averaging 5.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.[5]
