Main career facts
Headed the Department of Mechanical Equipment of Metallurgical Plants at the Siberian Metallurgical Institute. From 1954 to 1957 he was in the People's Republic of China, working at the Beijing Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 1951 on the influence of deformation rate on the deformation resistance of metals. From 1960 to 1988 — at the Gorky Polytechnic Institute, head of the Department of Metal Forming, and later of the Department of Thermal and Plastic Metal Processing. A leading specialist in the theory of plastic deformation of metals and applied problems of metal forming. Author of more than 500 published works, including 15 books. Trained more than 50 candidates of technical sciences and consulted on 5 doctoral dissertations.
