Leo Lyons is an American professional basketball player, a forward, who played for the Nizhny Novgorod club in early 2014. Born in 1988, height 206 cm (6 ft 9 in).[2]

Career before joining "Nizhny Novgorod"

After graduating from the University of Missouri in 2009, Lyons decided to try his hand at European basketball: his first club abroad was the Israeli team Hapoel Gilboa Galil. After a brief return home, where he played for NBA Development League teams (the Austin Toros and the Santa Cruz Warriors), he received an offer in the 2012/2013 season from Budivelnyk Kyiv. With the Ukrainian champions, Lyons became one of the team's leaders and reached the EuroCup semifinals with them, where Budivelnyk lost to Spain's Bilbao on aggregate over two games. The following season the forward moved to the Turkish club Karşıyaka, where he regularly started in domestic league and EuroCup games: in 11 games of the 2013/2014 EuroCup he averaged 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, helping the club reach the second group stage. However, because of disagreements with the head coach, he was forced to leave the team.[2]

With Nizhny Novgorod

On January 31, 2014, BC Nizhny Novgorod officially announced the signing of a contract with Lyons through the end of the season. The forward passed a medical examination and was expected to strengthen the team in the VTB United League, as well as in the next stage of the EuroCup, provided Nizhny Novgorod advanced from the group stage.[2] The player's contract was terminated in May 2014.[1]
