Jahmar Young (born November 18, 1986) is an American professional basketball player, a shooting guard. In the 2013/14 season, he played for BC Nizhny Novgorod in the VTB United League.[4]

Career before joining Nizhny Novgorod

Young graduated from the University of New Mexico (USA). Before moving to the Nizhny Novgorod club, he had accumulated considerable experience playing in European leagues: he played for Crvena Zvezda (Serbia), Charleroi (Belgium), and Ventspils (Latvia).[2] He spent the season before Nizhny Novgorod at the French club Entente Orléans: in 20 French championship games he averaged 12.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game; in six EuroCup games, 15.3 points, 2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.[3]

The season in Nizhny Novgorod

In September 2013, Young signed a one-year contract with BC Nizhny Novgorod, with an option for early termination after two months.[3] The club's general manager, Sergey Panov, said that the player had come to Nizhny Novgorod's attention two years earlier: in a Challenge Cup group-stage game, it was Young who, in the closing moments, won an away game against the Nizhny Novgorod side for Ventspils.[3] Head coach Zoran Lukić noted that Young is capable of covering three positions at once.[4] Young's signing was the final step in assembling the team during the offseason.[2] In October 2013, the club announced that it would not extend his contract.[1]

Later career

In December 2012, Nymburk showed interest in signing Young.[4] In the 2019/20 season, he played for the Israeli club Hapoel Eilat in the Israeli championship, appearing in four games with an average of 8 minutes on the court.[4] The athlete's height is 196 cm (6 ft 5 in), and his weight is 82 kg (181 lb).[4]
