Key facts of his career
In 1940 he was called up for active military service, and in August 1941 he graduated from the Sumy Artillery School. He took part in the Battle of Moscow, commanding a platoon, and in the Battle of Stalingrad commanded an anti-tank battery within the 62nd Army. He was severely wounded twice and, after prolonged treatment, was demobilized in 1943. In 1947 he graduated from the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (KhPI), after which he worked as an engineer in the design bureau at KhPI, and then as an associate professor at the Department of Turbine Engineering. He defended his candidate's dissertation at KhPI. From 1959 he was head of the Department of Ship Power Plants at the Kaliningrad Technical Institute.
After defending his doctoral dissertation in 1968, he was confirmed in the rank of professor. In 1971 he moved to the Vladivostok Polytechnic Institute, where he worked as a professor in the Department of Ship Turbine Installations, and later headed the Department of Internal Combustion Engines. From 1978 he was a professor at the Department of Ship Power Plants of the Gorky Polytechnic Institute. Over the course of his career he published more than 90 scholarly works, including 7 books and 2 textbooks. Under his supervision more than 20 dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences were defended, and some of his students went on to become doctors of technical sciences.
